Break my heart for what breaks Yours!
Hello everyone I know that it has been quite awhile since my last update. Please forgive me as I have been busy doing the Lord’s business and it has been an exciting fruitful season! God is breaking my heart more and more for the lost youth generation here in Australia. He has been giving me a deeper heart to intercede and pray that their eyes would be open to the truth of Jesus. He is blowing my mind in His word as I seek Him daily to feed me and be filled to the rim with His Spirit. Here’s an update of the ministries I’m involved with and how to pray:
YOUTH STREET
The Rage! For the last 4 weeks we have been getting our crew into bringing their friends to our Youth Street family. Every team is a color like yellow, pink, orange, and green and the crew get points for dressing up in their team color, bringing friends, and coming to our youth church called Livewire. We’ve seen over 25 new crew come to Youth Street over the last 4 weeks and have seen 10 crew give their lives to Christ! Praise God! We are eager to come alongside these new crew that have opened their hearts to Jesus and disciple them for them to grow in their faith!
4to6 Tutoring
Every Thursday from 4-6pm we have tutoring available for our crew in our cafe. For an hour we have group time filled with discussion, questions, food, and hang out time. The 2nd hour we tutor the crew in their homework. I have been so blessed to be a part of this new ministry that’s just been running for 3 months. So awesome to be a part of pioneering a new ministry!! We have 3 crew faithfully coming along with new crew signing up each week. We desire to disciple them in God’s values and disciplines and frankly just love on them by meeting their need of getting help with their homework.
A cool thing is that one of the crew’s parents, Chris, is super invoved every Thursday. He has a heart for the youth here in Newy and loves what we do. He’s not a Christian but so close! He’s always asking us about our relationships with God. He’s for sure on the brink of accepting Jesus so keep him in your prayers!
Worship Ministry
God is really giving me more of a heart for worship and the bride. I’ve been learning and playing new songs as well as writing new ones myself
It has all been flowing from my personal time with God and the intimacy we share on a daily basis. I had the honor of going to Wollongong for the weekend and lead worship. It was a great opportunity to lead a congregation in worship and develop lifelong relationships as our church (Maranatha) will be spending 2 weeks there in July! I’m so looking forward to that! I’ve also been asked to record harmonies for my friend Andrea’s album. They are all his songs and I’ve had a lot of fun working alongside him. Not sure what God will do with the cd we just pray it blesses many!
Open Mic
Every Thursday night from 7-9pm we open up our cafe to local musicians to come share in music. It’s a great night of building relationships with the locals and providing a refuge from the pubs in the area. To come have a cup of coffee and be loved on by people who love Jesus! We’ve seen so much fruit from this outreach and we’re excited to see what God has in store for the coming months as more people are coming out on Thursday nights!
National Leaders Meeting
I have been asked to attend YWAM Australia’s National Leaders Meeting(NLM) My 4th-12th in Townsville which is the north east side of Australia. Many of the leaders and staff of YWAM Australia will be attending and we have been asked to do a training for Youth Street. Many other bases are interested in starting Youth Street in their area including Kona, Hawaii, Barcelona, Spain, Vanuatu, etc. We are stoked to share God’s heart for this ministry and vision. We want many more kids around the world to get saved in this is one of the venues God has created to do just that. The whole trip will be about $500.00 which includes airfare, accomodation, food, and ther conference itself. If you would like to specifically donate to this trip please click on the donate button below
So much amazing stuff is taking place here and God is working on behalf of all your prayers! Please continue to pray:
–That the crew that have accepted Jesus would grow in their faith and be planted in God’s word. That we would be faithful in coming alongside them.
–For finances to come in for the NLM
–That God would prepare my heart to come home in 5 weeks to help train the team from Maranatha. That it would be a time of refreshment and clarity of vision for the future.
–For my crew! Courtney, Jez, Jackson, Hannah, Drew, Nathan, Jess, Leena, Amy for them to grow in their relationships with God and tell others about Him!

breakthrough!!!
These last 2 weeks have been the most packed and the most stretching weeks of my life but it has been so sweet! God is moving so much in our community and bringing about a lot of fruit. Here are some of the highlights from the last couple weeks
To Write Love on Her Arms
This event went off! We had a couple local bands play, testimonies, and had the founder of TWLOHA, Jamie share. It was a great night! We saw a lot of new faces and the flow of the night brought community, family, and love. I personally met a few girls, Leena, Amy, and Jess I got their myspaces and we’ve been in contact since the event. They’re stoked on Youth Street and are planning to come this Saturday! This event meant a lot for me personally. This is something that I have dealt with in the past as well as coming alongside a friend in jr. high and high school who struggled with suicide. This week the Lord brought a lot of healing and restoration and grew me in the area of intercession and prayer for others that struggle in this area.
YOUTH STREET/LIVEWIRE
Another amazing Saturday with my music team crew. I got the opportunity to lead the team this week by focusing on “Music Appreciation.” We discussed about the music we like, why we like it, what music we don’t like, why we don’t like it etc. It created an atmosphere to share about what we love in regards to music.
I was also asked to speak at our youth church called Livewire about the TWLOHA event and lead the crew in prayer and intercession. We broke up into small groups and asked the crew if they personally have struggled with this or if their friends and family have struggled with it. We talked to them about “standing in the gap” for their friends and family. We also wanted them to know that we are their family and that we’re not scared of their pain. We want to walk through it with them and provide them with community and love.
Growing in the Gift
Like I said before, God is really stretching me in getting in front of a crowd and speaking. You think I wouldn’t have trouble since I lead worship but it’s really an area that is difficult for me. I got asked to speak 4 times this week. God is so good…He is also faithful to supply the grace and strength we need. I’m excited to grow and go deeper in this gift!
Open Mic and Drew
God has brought an amazing 11 year old girl into my life and others here, her name is Drew! Her mom is the manager of the pub next door and they live on top of the pub. She came into the cafe during Open Mic night a few weeks ago but was taken out by her mom. Last week she came into the cafe along with her 2 sisters and mom. Drew and her sisters really embraced me and their mom saw that and embraced me as well. Drew shared with me some stories of living on top of the pub that a little girl her age shouldn’t be exposed to. She said she felt safe in our cafe. I told her about the TWLOHA event and she said that she would go. So Thursday she showed up with one of the girls, Kate from the DTS(Discipleship Training School). I got to hang out with her as well as with Kate. She opened up to us saying that she has never felt so much love and encouragement and that she wants to know God like we do. As soon as Kate started to share about a relationship with God her mom came to pick her up. Since then Drew comes to the cafe to hang out and today Kate is going to share with her about the love Drew can share with Jesus in a personal relationship with Him! I believe this girl is going to be radically used by God and for His purposes!!
Fig Tree Anglican Church/Wollongong
This weekend I will be taking the train 6 hours south past Sydney to Wollongong to visit and lead worship at the church where Maranatha will be sending a team in July for 2 weeks. I will get to share about why I’m living in Australia and be able to sell my cds for donation to raise some support. I’m really looking forward to deepening this relationship with this church and spend time with the body of Christ in a different place of Australia
Prayer Requests
–Drew and her family to begin relationships with God and be used mightily in this community.
–Vision and direction for this next season of ministry before returning home for a ahort time in May.
–Continued health, energy, and strength.
–God would inspire me to write more songs for His glory.
–Courtney on the music team. That she would continue to be open about her relationship with God and grow deeper!
It’s Ours!!
13 years and it’s Ours!
After 13 years of waiting on the Lord God has provided YWAM Newcastle a building!!! It’s about 5 blocks away from our house and it is a beauty…well not really but it’s going to be
We will no longer have to lease and rent but now we own! God spoke to our base director and his wife 13 years ago about having inheritance and our own land. This building will have our offices, DTS lecture rooms, Youth Street skate park, recording studios, dance studios etc. Thank you for all your prayers!!! We are all celebrating this amazing promise fulfilled.
Camping in the Bush
Camping in the bush was amazing! We got to go on a boat and I even tried tubing for the 1st time! It was great to spend time with those on my staff training. We made meals together, laughed, even shed some tears. The Lord met us in a powerful way Thursday morning when we spent alone time with God for about an hour and then came together again to share. The main focus was Joel 2:13 “rendering your heart to the Lord.” To put Him first by giving Him your heart, your cares, and your desires and in turn He will give you His heart and desires. Very often we come to God with a list of cares and concerns and all He wants is for us to be with Him and spend time with Him. Ah it was so sweet and we had an amazing time of praying and affirming eachother. This trip was also a special time to invest into the DTS students by spending quality time with them.
YOUTHSTREET
Please continue to pray kids would be drawn into coming and that they would feel loved on and accepted into beloved by us. Also that more would be affected by the Gospel and come into a radical relationship with God.
Courtney and Her Dream
One of the girls told me that she had a dream of us singing one of her favorite songs at the open mic night at our cafe. That was really encouraging to hear that from her since it’s hard for her to engage and be a part of the music team. She came over to the house today to practice so we’re planning on singing the song next Thursday at Open Mic. I’ll get some video of it and put it on here as soon as I can
To Write Love on Her Arms
Stevie(youth street director) got back this week and I was able to go along with some people to pick him up in Sydney and have some time to talk. It’s great having him back so I can really get plugging away. While on his holidays he met this guy who has pretty much started a youth culture revolution with a t-shirt saying “to write love on her arms” basically it brings awareness to kids about suicide prevention. You can check out his webiste here www.twloha.com He’s an amazing Christian guy and is planning on coming to Australia end of this month till March 20th. He is into Youth Street and wants to speak for our youth service on Saturday night. This is an amazing opporunity along with putting on a Walking on Water premiere here in Newcastle. So let’s just say I have my hands full but I am really enjoying it. Stevie has left me to do research and plan for these events and I am stoked to do it!
End of STS
STS ended this Friday
God has taught me so much through it and I’m kinda sad to end lectures
Oh well I’ll sit in DTS Lectures here and there. Though I’m sad the training season is over I’m excited to go full on into ministry and really start planning and organizing events for the future.
As far as chaplaincy goes I believe the Lord has a hold on that for now. I just received an article about it becoming secularized because of the new Labor Party stepping in with the new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The Lord has been revealing to me thatbefore I go home in May that I am to serve YWAM and the base and then when I come back in July that is when I will really dive into chaplaincy and getting into high schools. I’m still doing my research and looking into more training but for now I really want to focus on these 2 upcoming events and pour my all into them.
Calvary Chapel Newcastle
I’ve gotten back into fellowshiping and attending Calvary Chapel Newcastle and for the past 3 weekends I’ve been leading worship while their worship leader is away on holiday. They have asked me to lead every other week! I’m really blessed to go to Calvary here…feels like home
I’ve also been leading base worship on Wednesdays with a band it is really good to worship with my family here. I feel like God is really growing and stretching more than ever before in this area and I’m stoked.
Prayer Requests
– Youth Street and the music team that kids would have the desire to come and accept Jesus and grow in their relationships with God.
– 4-6pm tutoring program on Thursdays. That it would be a time where we meet their physical need by providing help with their homework and be used by God to care for them and love them with Christ’s love.
– The new building that our loans would be approved and ready to move in April 30th.
–For Courtney Youth Street crew that she would open up more and that the Open Mic would go well.

1st week back in Newcastle!
Youth Street
Well it has been really great being back in Newcastle. I got a couple days to settle in before Youth Street this past Saturday. I am currently on staff with the music team and we are recording one of our bands for the next few Saturdays. It’s pretty amazing, they wrote a song a couple months ago and I’m really impressed. I’ll try to get a sample of it on here as soon as we’re done recording so you can take a listen ![]()
January DTS
It’s also been awesome meeting and hanging out with the new January DTS…crazy to think last year at this time I was a DTS student and never could have dreamed all that the Lord would do with me from that point. He is so faithful! A couple of them are from San Diego so its been fun to talk about familiar places….like mexican food hehe.
STS (Staff Training Seminar)
This Tuesday I started my staff training seminar. It’s so good to get learning and just go deeper in God’s truths! The 1st day we talked about mentorship. That we need to be mentored as well as mentor others. I was really blessed because God has already been speaking to me about this specific thing in the last few months before coming back. Being approachable and available for people to ask you questions. Today we had a speaker talk about being positive with eachother. To speak life into situations instead of death. To encourage rather then slander. He gave us an exercise to practice this. He told us to think of someone in soceity today who receives a lot of gossip from others then to find a way to e-mail them and let them know that you’re praying for them and give uplifting words instead of more slander and discouragement. It really opened my eyes to how much influence we can have on eachother and that we need to be aware and alert not to give into that temptation to gossip but to always speak truth not just fact.
Base Day
I also had base day with my YWAM family. Basically it’s a day to come together corporately and worship God with full hearts and hear Him speak. I was asked to sing harmony and seriously it is the most joyful and sweet time with God and family. 1 of the songs was written by the worship leader and it met us all in a powerful way. We have that worship set recorded and we want to specifically record that song again….I’l try to put it on here for you as well ![]()
Staff
I’ve started my staff responsibilites and I am really thrilled and excited for all the Lord desires to do in my next year here. I’ve been making contacts with some local coffee shops to do open mics. Also I met a couple people who are connected with the overseer of all the chaplains in Australia. As well as making connections with a base up north who already has a chaplaincy and scripture teaching program. Looks like I’m going to go up there maybe as soon as next month to see how they do things and then incorporate it into our Newcastle public high schools.
Unleashed
Very stoked on this weekend as Unleashed gets going. It’s a city outreach and conference and it draws most of the kids in Newcastle to come hear about God, get saved, and then get plugged into surrounding churches. We’re taking our Youth Street kids this Saturday and I am really looking forward to it!
Prayer Points
- That I would continue to seek the Lord in everything. To have sweet and intimate quiet times with Him and to not rely upon my own strength or understanding. That I would receive all He wants to teach me while I’m in the Staff Training Seminar. For me to be humble and teachable.
- For our Youth Street kids. That they would bring their friends this weekend to Youth Street and Unleashed, and that they would be personally touched and revived as the message is spoken. That there would be many salvations and rededications.
- Good health and energy. That I would remain well.
- The base is in the process of buying property for the 1st time. Please pray that the process would be smooth and that God would provide all the finances for remodeling the building.
